Guided tour of the temporary exhibition « Jardins. La Belle Epoque ! » and of the Maison Bergès, led by a professional guide
20 people maximum
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Bergès family decided to build, at the foot of their paper mills, a family residence in their own image: modern and eclectic. The "new house" interacts with an equally elaborate garden at the foot of the Belledonne massif. The landscapes are staged, with Italian terraces with flowerbeds, lush green English lawns and paths that are pleasant to stroll along. Water, so important in Aristide Bergès' industrial epic, is very present. Around 1900, the Lancey estate was thus part of the botanical effervescence of the Belle Epoque.
The exhibition « Jardins. La Belle Epoque ! » can be discovered in the rooms of the Maison Bergès and in its garden. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, decorative arts and archives are brought together in this exhibition, conceived from the collections of the Maison Bergès and enriched by loans from the museums of the Département de l'Isère (Musée Hébert, Musée Dauphinois, Service du Patrimoine culturel), the Musée des Ursulines (Mâcon), the Grenoble municipal and community archives and the Grenoble municipal library.
