The church of Saint Jean le Vieux is one of the oldest Romanesque buildings in Isère. It has been listed as a historic monument since 2004.
Between the high peaks of Belledonne and the Grésivaudan valley, come and visit the church of Saint Jean le Vieux, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and listed as a historic monument since 2004. With its original 11th-century bell tower, it is one of the oldest churches in the region. Its early Romanesque façade is decorated with vertical bands known as "Lombard bands".
A real treasure inside the church, the 17th-century high altar, listed as a historic monument since 1954, is known as the "mysterious altarpiece". Made of gilded wood and decorated with fleurs-de-lis, twisted columns and shell-shaped half-domes, it displays the main features of the Louis XVI style.
