La Rolande
Last refuge of the tree frog.
This sensitive natural area invites you to discover a bank of the Isère with several ponds and an alluvial forest dotted with dry meadows that tell of pollination and botany, while the dykes tell the story of flood management...

Here lives the European tree frog, in its last Isère stronghold outside the Isle Crémieu. In 1925 this tree frog (at least the male) could be heard singing in the streets of Grenoble; by 1975 it could only be heard from Meylan onwards; by 1990 the tree frog had only 4 or 5 sites left in the Grésivaudan.

2011: La Rolande is its last refuge. Around 250 individuals were counted, including some fifty singing breeding males, which is not enough for genetic diversity. The possibility of reinforcing this endangered population is being studied.
All year round.
