Made up of wet meadows, reed beds, woodland and wasteland, the Montfort marsh is home to exceptionally rich flora and fauna.
Located near Crolles, this site has been a designated ENS (sensitive natural area) since 1991. This peat marsh is a refuge for rare species, including many orchids, and is home to nearly 200 different plants. It is also the domain of amphibians, birds and 27 different species of dragonfly. The stars of the site are three highly protected butterflies: the Large Copper, the Chestnut Heath and the Scarce Large Blue. A trail dedicated to them winds through ponds, willows and tall grasses.
All year round.
